  • Spin-Polarized Scanning Electron Microscope / Spin Imaging Laboratory (SIL)
This laboratory is dedicated to analyzing spin distribution, elements distribution, and crystalline structure of samples by using a globally unique and high-resolution (3 nm) Spin-Polarized Scanning Electron Microscope (Spin SEM) developed at the Graduate School of Science. Supported by the MEXT program “Open Advanced Facilities Initiative for Innovation (Strategic Use by Industry)” since October 2010, and led by Prof. Kazuyuki KOIKE, it aims at application of the imaging technique to various areas, such as the development of advanced technological innovation related to electric vehicles, high-efficiency thermal power plants, low-energy domestic appliances, by making it accessible to users also from environmental industries.
